On the Hard – Winter ’11-’12

As noted in an earlier photo gallery, we had the Compass hauled on November 2, 2011.  We had originally planned to be out of the water for just over a month, this is a boat project, so the Compass has been on the hard for several months longer than anticipated.  We’ve run into some snags relating to the engine bed, sail drive mount, and some sawed-off bolts we naively thought were handy positioning dowels.  We’ve completed quite a few projects while the boat’s been out of the water, though.  There’s been varnishing, cleaning, the removal of the diesel generator, and varnishing.  Charlie did a few fiberglass projects, drilled some through-hulls, and did some varnishing.  There was hand-sanding, machine sanding, and varnishing.  Charlie built us some new lifelines, and we varnished.
